QXL suffers losses

- QXL, the online auction house, has suffered a five-fold increase in second-quarter losses to £68 million, throwing its future into question.

Its share price fell by 33 per cent to 16 3/4p on yesterday's results. The company says, however, that its turnover more than doubled to almost £6 million, and that membership numbers had risen by 27 per cent to 1.4 million quarter on quarter.
