The Radio Advertising Bureau is changing tack in its crusade to
lift radio advertising revenues, by taking its message to advertisers
and agencies in person.
The bureau has hired Mike Chambers from Katz Radio Sales as a roving
’ambassador’ for the medium.
Douglas McArthur, the RAB’s managing director, said: ’This appointment
is about establishing a better dialogue with advertisers and media
buyers. Until now that dialogue has principally been in the form of
mailing.’
The appointment marks the start of an initiative which has been planned
for several months under the codename, ’Ambassador’. McArthur will lead
the drive and Chambers will work with him.
Chambers has been at Katz for 18 months, and spent the previous three
years at Televest in New York. He will take up the post in December,
with the initiative becoming fully operational in the new year.
