Talk Radio has snared the rights to broadcast England’s home

international football games and the FA Cup for the next three

years.

The move is further evidence of the commitment by Kelvin MacKenzie,

Talk’s chief executive, to orient his station toward more sport.

Talk Radio and BBC Radio 5 Live will share broadcast rights until

2002.

Until now, the BBC has exclusively broadcast the FA Cup, while England

home games have been shared with Capital Radio.

MacKenzie said: ’This deal not only marks Talk Radio’s coming of age but

the arrival of commercial radio on an equal playing field.’
