Rapier indicates its planning intentions by recruiting Davies

Rapier is building its planning team by hiring Gill Davies as head

of planning.



Davies, a freelance consultant, is joining Rapier after spells at

agencies including Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper.

Her most recent agency role was as a planner at BMP DDB.



Her appointment comes as Karen Salisbury, Rapier's director of planning,

takes a step back from the day-to-day running of the planning

department. Salisbury is staying on a part-time basis.



Rapier, which is positioned as an agency for service brands, intends to

build its planning strengths following Davies' appointment. It is

looking to move people internally into planning roles as well as hiring

externally.



Davies will lead a senior planning team working on clients including

HSBC, Channel 4, Yorkshire Electricity and ntl.



Ben Stephens, Rapier's managing director, said: "Gill has a strong and

varied strategic and planning background. We are confident that her

expertise will allow us to further enhance our offering."



Davies said: "What attracted me to Rapier is that it has an unusual and

broad mix of skills. The agency likes to use planning skills across the

whole customer relationship and that really interests me."
