Reed Business Information is embarking on a push to employ
recruitment sales staff as part of a wider strategy to build the profile
of its online publishing activities.
RBI is looking for 12 senior sales people to work on totaljobs.com, the
portal that links through to job ads in other RBI online and print
titles. Launched in July, totaljobs.com lists 12,500 jobs and RBI hopes
it will become the UK’s biggest recruitment site.
RBI is also looking to increase the sales team working on its vertical
sector online titles. In the past three months, it has taken on 18 new
sales people for @computerweekly, making it the leading site in the UK
for IT recruitment. RBI is to build similarly specialist recruitment
teams for its catering, aerospace and social services online titles.
A deal with Microsoft has given RBI’s recruitment sales ambitions a
significant boost. The deal makes totaljobs.com the preferred jobs link
on the MSN recruitment channel. The site is being improved to cope with
the anticipated increase in traffic, making it easier to navigate and
link through to other recruitment sites.
Paul Sissons, RBI’s director of recruitment, says the 12 new staff are
needed for sales and publishing roles, working under the totaljobs.com
umbrella in ’core and non-core web recruitment markets’. The company
employs 153 working in media and recruitment sales.
