- Real Media, the online advertising network, has been hit by the departure of its managing director David McMurtrie, who has only been in the role since July last year.

The news comes soon after the company made a spate of redundancies due to an internal re-shuffle, and its commercial director, Jonathan Bill, also left the agency earlier this month.

It is understood that McMurtrie handed in his notice before Christmas and prior to the staff redundancies. His predecessor Tim Brown, who was promoted from UK managing director to become the company's European general manager of advertising will return to the md role in the UK office.

McMurtrie has been at Real Media since 1999, and was operations and marketing director before being promoted to the role of managing director. Prior to that he was the director of MediaCom Europe.
