The site, which is owned by the recruitment agency Reed, has approached five undisclosed agencies for chemistry meetings and will brief them over the next two weeks. Pitches are expected to begin two weeks after that.
Reed, which also has a retail presence of more than 300 offices in the UK, has marked out reed.co.uk as its main focus of expansion in the coming year. It is investing heavily in the site, including above-the-line advertising.
The initial emphasis of the creative brief will be to concentrate on building the website's brand and presence as it battles to take market share from rivals such as Monster.co.uk.
However, in addition, the winning agency may be handed advertising duties for the retail account.
Reed.co.uk was launched in 1995, when it was the first dedicated online recruitment platform offered by a UK recruitment agency.
It now offers more than 350,000 jobs covering more than 700 roles in 38 different industry sectors, including private, public and voluntary.
The website adds 10,000 new jobs every day and has 1.4 million unique visitors every month, with one million of them applying for jobs.
