The Government is set to allow US companies to buy British media companies if they pledge to buy at least half of their programming from this country. The plans have raised objections from a Parliamentary committee, headed by the filmmaker Lord Puttnam, which argues that US companies should not be allowed into the UK market unless their home markets were opened up to British companies. - The Sunday Times.
