Cinzano is reviewing its creative account across Europe following
its acquisition by the Monaco-based drinks giant, Campari International.

The mobile phone retailer, Carphone Warehouse, has hired Phil Brisk, a
partner at the Drayton Bird marketing consultancy, and Adrian Rowbotham,
founder of Adrian Rowbotham Films, to work on its Christmas TV
advertising, following the resignation of the account last month by

shortlisted CDP, BMP DDB, Mustoe Merriman Herring Levy and Duckworth
Finn Grubb Waters to pitch for its pounds 13 million insurance

Adidas’s head of communications, Rod Connors, has moved to arch-rival,
Nike, to head up its UK marketing department. Dermot Cleary, Nike’s UK
marketing director, is being promoted to a senior role within Europe and
Connors will take on responsibility for all of Nike’s advertising and

Carat is reported to be in talks with the Scottish media agency, Feather
Brooksbank, about a possible alliance. A deal would give Feather
Brooksbank access to a network. For Carat, it would provide a firm
foothold in Scotland. Both agencies deny conversations are taking place.

The burger chain, Wimpy, is creating a fast food chicken brand, Dr
Beaks, that will go head to head against Kentucky Fried Chicken. Three
Dr Beaks outlets will open over the next three months in the UK and a
further 100 franchised outlets are planned during the next five years.

The Portman Group, which promotes sensible drinking habits, is to use
top footballers in its anti-drinking campaign, which will take up the
majority of its pounds 2 million ad budget. The campaign encourages
drinkers to make sure they have a designated driver to take them home.

Bruce Steinberg, general manager of BSkyB’s Sky Networks, has resigned
to pursue other opportunities. However, he will remain a consultant to

WPP Group has bought the Brand Union, parent company of the identity
specialist, Lambie-Nairn, famous for its BBC1 and BBC2 idents. The
purchase also includes the branding and packaging consultancy, Tutssels,

Jason Smith has been appointed as sales director of Trinity Mirror’s
new-media operations. Smith joins from Virgin Net where he was the sales
manager for two years. He will report to David Clarke, managing director
of new media and interactive services across the entire group. General

PepsiCo is launching a range of branded clothing aimed at the youth
market. Coca-Cola has already launched a similar range. The clothes will
