Larcombe’s time at Virgin – both in his most recent role and as director of advertising and sponsorship beforehand – has been punctuated by high-profile initiatives and campaigns. The most successful, such as TV-viewing animal personalities and Usain Bolt’s impersonations of Sir Richard Branson, have been humorous and easily identifiable with the brand’s irreverent nature. Larcombe believes emotion is key to marketing tech. "As people’s lives become seamlessly interconnected, so it becomes really interesting for us as we find ways to link technology and emotion," he said recently.
