Rise appoints Wigram for planning skills

Rise Communications, the communications planning agency, has appointed John Wigram as its third partner.

Wigram joins the agency from Leo Burnett's direct marketing arm Arc, where he was the head of planning.

Rise, founded last year by the former Optimedia managing director Simon Mathews and the former Saatchi & Saatchi director Andrew Goulborn, appointed Wigram to enhance its account and brand planning skills.

Wigram will work alongside Mathews and Goulborn on clients including Reckitt Benckiser, Metro, Charles Wells and Cosmopolitan.

Goulborn said: "John's account and brand planning skills, allied to his genuine through-the-line experience, will add enormously to our offering that helps companies get better returns from their investment in all communications channels."

Wigram will help develop planning and research tools for clients. Before joining Arc, he spent time at Leo Burnett, Doner Cardwell Hawkins and the brand consultancy Craton Lodge & Knight.

Wigram said: "I think our challenge is to make sense of complex targeting and channel issues for clients, and propose genuine business-building solutions.

"My skills are more to do with brands and research and the whole one-to-one thing. Part of what I'll bring is to look at the way we work with clients using data and research."
