Lowe Howard-Spink relaunched its media department this week as
Western International Media, at the same time promoting Robbie McIntosh,
a deputy media director at Lowes, to media director of the new
McIntosh has shared the deputy’s post at Lowes with Gary Birtles since
joining the agency last March. Birtles, who remains in charge of the
agency’s largest account, Vauxhall, is joined as joint deputy media
director by Peter Magnani, formerly head of international media.
Under the new structure, three senior directors sit alongside the joint
media directors - the director of sponsorship, Sean Jefferson, the
director of research, Ivor Hussein, and the new director of broadcast,
Colm Feeney (Campaign, last week).
Mike Smallwood, the media dependant’s chief executive, said McIntosh’s
role would be to head the client-focused side of the business in the
Smallwood added: ’With the increased international focus of the group, I
do not have the time required to dedicate to clients.’
The media shop will fight its first pitch as Western in the next few
weeks. It is currently preparing to pitch for the Express Newspapers’
account in a head-to-head battle with the incumbent, IDK Media.
Lowes recently picked up the creative account of the pounds 8 million
Express business (Campaign, 14 February).
