Robertson joins Euro RSCG after D'Arcy demise

LONDON - Havas has snapped up D'Arcy's chief marketing officer, Kate Robertson, who joined the agency just months before Publicis Groupe announced it was to close.

Robertson, a South African, will join Havas-owned Euro RSCG Worldwide as executive vice-president of Europe. She will divide her time between Paris and London, managing network operations and developing new business.

She replaces Christian de la Villehuchet, who was recently named CEO of Euro RSCG Belgium, and reports to Pierre Lecosse, chairman and CEO of Euro RSCG Europe.

Robertson joined D'Arcy as the chief marketing officer at the end of May 2002, prior to the merger of the Publicis Groupe with Bcom3. Within five months, Publicis boss Maurice Levy announced that the D'Arcy network would be closed, with existing clients folded into its other networks such as Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi and Publicis.

Prior to joining D'Arcy, Robertson was founder and CEO of Scholz & Friends London, the UK offshoot of the German agency.

According to Lecosse: "Kate will bring to Euro RSCG extensive knowledge and international experience in marketing issues across major sectors, having worked on global brands and in major advertising networks."

Robertson has also held jobs at Bates Europe, as executive director of business development, and at J Walter Thompson, where she handled brands for Kellogg and Unilever.
