Rooney gets supersized for EA Sports ad

Wayne Rooney stars as a giant in a new ad by Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam for EA Sports' latest football game, Fifa 12.

First aired during Sunday's clash between Manchester United and Arsenal, the ad illustrates the football obsession of an ordinary fan, with the strapline "Love football, play football".

Rooney appears in a dream sequence where the fan is a goalkeeper facing a penalty to be taken by a giant version of the Manchester United player.

Other players appearing include Barcelona's Gerard Pique and Real Madrid's Kaka.

The 60-second spot came out of a team including executive creative directors Mark Bernath and Eric Quennoy, creative directors Mike Farr and Pierre Janneau, art director Craig Williams and copywriter Zach Watkins.

It was directed by Henry-Alex Rubin and produced by Smuggler, with post production by The Mill.

Media planning and buying is handled by MediaCom.
