Royal Caribbean in hunt for ad agency

The cruise company Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises is talking to agencies about its £3 million advertising account.

RCICC currently uses a small agency called Positive Thinking, but is looking to expand its UK advertising and build a global brand.

The winning agency will be briefed with developing work for two areas: the home ports, where the ships are docked; and the fly cruise market, countries to which customers have to travel to join cruises.

As part of this strategy, the agency appointed DraftFCB in Singapore to handle its creative account this year.

Earlier this week, the company announced record net income for the third quarter 2007 of £190 million, compared with £164 million in 2006. The company put the increase down to better-than- expected late bookings driving better yields.

RCICC, which was founded in 1968 by a conglomerate of three Norwegian shipping companies, travels to destinations including Europe, the Bahamas, Asia, Canada and the Caribbean.
