RPM3 has appointed Mark Brandis, a former board account director at

Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, as its new managing director.

Brandis, who ran the BT Cellnet, Weetabix and RSPCA business at AMV,

joined RPM3 this week to replace Paul Cowan who left at the end of last

year. He will take charge of the agency’s new-business drive.

He joins the board of RPM3 and will have a share of the equity, along

with Martin Butler, the agency’s chief executive, Russell Wailes, the

creative director, and Maggie Taylor, the planning director.

’I wanted to get my hands on running an agency and there is a job to be

done here,’ Brandis said. ’We have a good solid base of people here and

the output of work is brilliant - we just need to get it seen more.’

Brandis joined AMV in 1995 and was promoted to the board the following

year. His career in advertising began at Saatchi & Saatchi in 1985,

where he worked as an account manager on Procter & Gamble.

He moved to Young & Rubicam three years later, where he worked as an

account director across Colgate Palmolive, Heinz, Quaker and Volunteer

Reserve Forces.

Four years later, in 1992, he joined Edwards Martin Thornton, where he

spent three years working on the agency’s Bass and Yorkshire Banks

business.

’The ’troubled agency’ perception really is old news, we’re rocking and

the morale is fantastic,’ Brandis added. ’In the past year, we have put

on both Courts’ and Allders’ business. It will be easier to build on

that success.’
