Jones Britton Breckon Company has poached Alex Russell from CIA

Medianetwork to be board account director.

Russell will join the fledgling agency in September.

She will oversee the pounds 8 million UTravel.com account - one of

JBBC’s founding clients - and chase business leads.

Russell is a director at CIA and heads Novartis Healthcare, Combe

International (which manufactures Odour Eaters, Grecian 2000 and

Lanacane) and Cussons UK, the company behind Imperial Leather.

She is the second CIA director to be poached by JBBC founder Richard

Britton in the past few months. Britton, the former CIA non-broadcast

head, was one of 30 staff sacked by the agency in October 1989.

In March, Britton hired Mick Ridley, head of CIA’s online business, to

launch an online planning/buying arm for JBBC.

Britton said: ’Alex will increase our marketing effort. We haven’t been

great at selling ourselves so far and that’s what we are trying to do

this summer. She has experience of working on pharmaceutical and

toiletry business and has also worked on the LVMH account, so we’ll be

well placed to go after all kinds of business.’

Britton launched JBBC with two other media heavyweights: Nigel Breckon,

the former Carat press director, and Bill Jones, ex-deputy chairman of

MediaCom.

The company’s largest accounts are Dennis Publishing, venture capital

company CVC Capital Partners and Homebase Megastores.
