Sainsbury's appoints Dare to digital ad business

LONDON - Dare has landed the Sainsbury's digital advertising account following a shoot-out against Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, Altogether Digital and i-Level.

The agency will now take on responsibility for all the online strategy and digital advertising communications for the supermarket with a view to bolstering its online presence.
In light of increasing investments in online marketing by other retailers, Sainsbury's is looking to boost its marketing investment in digital communications in a bid to increase sales and traffic through its online store.
Sainsbury's has previously used AKQA and a number of other smaller agencies, to produce its digital advertising activity on an ad-hoc basis. AKQA will continue to handle Sainsbury's e-commerce and web-build business.
Abbott Mead Vickers, the incumbent agency on Sainsbury's above-the-line business, will continue to handle the digital communications for Sainsbury's Finance. The agency picked up that business in 2008 following a pitch against AKQA, Tullo Marshall Warren, Big Mouth Media and the incumbent on the business, McCann Manchester.
