Century 106, the East Midlands radio station, has appointed
27-year-old Sam Fielding head of sales.
Fielding will be responsible for driving local revenue streams across
the East Midlands region.
She was only promoted to the role of sponsorship and promotions manager
two months ago.
The head of sales vacancy arose when the station’s former sales chief Jo
Bosworth was recently promoted to managing director.
Fielding will oversee a team of six sales executives and manage the
sponsorship and promotions department, creative team and airtime
Century’s highest spending advertiser is Vauxhall.
National advertising sales will be handled by Capital Advertising in
London, under agency account manager Nick Heweat.
Century is now on the hunt for a sponsorship and promotions manager to
replace Fielding and two sales co-ordinators.
Fielding was the first sponsorship and promotions executive to join the
Rainmaker scheme, which Emap set up to promote the outstanding
performance of high achievers from the group’s radio stations.
She began her media career in 1995 at Marcher Sound radio, based in
North Wales, and moved on to Hallam FM in Sheffield to specialise in
sponsorship and promotions.
Century’s competitors in the East Midlands are three GWR stations: Trent
FM in Nottingham, Ram FM in Derby and Leicester Sound.
