Century 106, the East Midlands radio station, has appointed

27-year-old Sam Fielding head of sales.

Fielding will be responsible for driving local revenue streams across

the East Midlands region.

She was only promoted to the role of sponsorship and promotions manager

two months ago.

The head of sales vacancy arose when the station’s former sales chief Jo

Bosworth was recently promoted to managing director.

Fielding will oversee a team of six sales executives and manage the

sponsorship and promotions department, creative team and airtime

traffic.

Century’s highest spending advertiser is Vauxhall.

National advertising sales will be handled by Capital Advertising in

London, under agency account manager Nick Heweat.

Century is now on the hunt for a sponsorship and promotions manager to

replace Fielding and two sales co-ordinators.

Fielding was the first sponsorship and promotions executive to join the

Rainmaker scheme, which Emap set up to promote the outstanding

performance of high achievers from the group’s radio stations.

She began her media career in 1995 at Marcher Sound radio, based in

North Wales, and moved on to Hallam FM in Sheffield to specialise in

sponsorship and promotions.

Century’s competitors in the East Midlands are three GWR stations: Trent

FM in Nottingham, Ram FM in Derby and Leicester Sound.
