Santander launches Summer of Cycling with Jenson Button

Yesterday (30 June) saw racing driver Jenson Button kick off Santander's Summer of Cycling campaign, which features four bike-based events between July and September.

Santander Cycles, which took over London's cycling scheme from Barclays Bikes in February, has teamed up with the Science Museum, ZSL London Zoo, Open House London and Totally Thames to create Summer of Cycling.

Each venue promises to host exclusive 'money can't buy' cycling experiences.

The Science Museum will host Twilight Tours, guided cycling tours on Santander's red bikes through some of the museum's galleries. Each group will stop at various points to hear from the museum's curators.

London Zoo has developed a Sunrise Cycle Tour through its venue, which will take place on 11, 12 and 13 September before it opens to the public. Open House London will also team up with Santander to give Londoners access to more than 800 buildings for free on 19 and 20 September.

Finally, Santander Cycles will run activities at Totally Thames Festival on 5 and 6 September. More details on the activations are expected to be released soon.

Santander has organised the Summer of Cycling event in collaboration with experiential agency Slice, DF London, WCRS, PAA, Fueland and Sidu & Simon.

Keith Moor, chief marketing officer of Santander, said: "We want to make using the Santander Cycle Scheme easy, fun and rewarding. These festivals are a great example of the excitement we want to bring to the scheme – giving people the chance to do things they simply could not experience in any other way."
