The three agencies invited to pitch are McKinney & Silver, Raleigh, NC; Suissa Miller, Los Angeles; and Williams & McGarrah Jessee, Austin.

The 736 strong deli chain, based in Austin, Texas, previously handled TV work in-house. It is understood the account in total is worth $20 million, with $14 million being spent on national TV advertising and a further $6 million on regional work.

A decision is expected next month. The first work is due to air in April 1999 with media planning and buying being handled by Western International Media, Los Angeles.

Schlotzsky's was founded in 1971 and is a franchisor of quick service restaurants featuring made to order sandwiches served on distinctive sourdough bread, along with pizzas, salads and soups. It operates in 38 states, the District of Columbia and 15 countries around the world.
