Scottish Telecom has kicked off a review of its media and creative
accounts as it gears up for a relaunch next year.
Scottish Telecom split with its full-service agency, Faulds Advertising,
last week. The company is now sounding out agencies so that both
creative and media suppliers will be in place by the early autumn.
Scottish Telecom’s adspend has recently dropped to around pounds 1
million, but the company is planning a boost to budgets for 2000 to up
to pounds 4 million as part of a shift in business strategy designed to
position the company at the forefront of new technology. It is also
reported to be planning a name change to underline this strategy.
The first advertising from the new media and creative agencies will be
to support the rebranding and a fresh concentration on internet and
business customers. Scottish Telecom acquired the internet company,
Demon Internet, last year and is preparing to hive off its telecoms
business as it concentrates on new technology.
