Senior King to promote Yorkshire tourism

LONDON - Senior King has been hired to create a £1.5 million campaign to promote tourism in Yorkshire in the wake of the foot-and-mouth disaster.

Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency for Yorkshire and Humber, made the appointment, which will see television support for Yorkshire tourism for the first time.

The TV will be backed with radio, press and internet advertising as well as PR activity.

Theresa Lindsay, head of communications at Yorkshire Forward, said: "The tourism industry in the region has lost an estimated £75 million a month since the outbreak of Foot and Mouth. This campaign is designed to draw visitors back to the region and contribute to rebuilding a stronger, more sustainable economy."
