It has been an eventful year for Mitchell. As part of an overhaul of the NHS, public-health marketing was pulled out of the Department of Health and placed in new executive agency Public Health England.

Mitchell, an experienced marketer who takes such developments in her stride, is enjoying the sharper focus on evidence-based marketing and closer links to local authorities brought about by the move.

No doubt she will have heaved a sigh of relief when M&C Saatchi, the agency behind her flagship healthy-living campaign, came through the gruelling Government Procurement Service selection process to land a place on the roster.
