The company sent out a tender notice last week, which agencies must respond to by 27 April. The Royal Mint will then put together a long list.
The winning agency will be briefed with creating both commercial and trade-advertising material, as well as commercial catalogues and manuals for the Royal Mint's Collector Coins and Classics range of products.
It will also need to create an overarching strategy for the company as it looks to re-establish its brand.
The tender will be decided by an electronic auction, and the most economically advantageous tender will be chosen as the winner. The contract will start in August this year and will run until August 2009.
Start, the incumbent agency, picked up the business in June 2005, following a competitive pitch against a number of unnamed agencies.
Manning Gottlieb OMD, which handles the media planning and buying business, will not be affected by the review.
