Mahoney - the duo responsible for the acclaimed Littlewoods Pools ’ref’

and ’Alan Hansen’ commercials - from DMB&B.

The pair will replace Phil Cockrell and Graham Storey, a senior team,

who left Simons Palmer to join Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe at the start

of this year.

A junior team, Patrick Burns and Gavin McGrath, who recently graduated

from Watford College, has also been recruited by Andy McKay and Paul

Hodgkinson, two of the agency’s creative directors.

Another hiring, by Simons Palmer’s other two creative directors, Tony

Malcolm and Guy Moore, is set to be announced within the next few

weeks.

All the recruits will start work at the agency before its planned merger

with TBWA, which is expected to be completed next month.

Hodgkinson said: ’We planned to strengthen our creative department even

before the deal with TBWA was announced. Andy and Mick have a good

attitude and have done great work.’

Amadeo said: ’The opportunities are already good at Simons Palmer and

after the merger there will be even more. This move is definitely the

right one for us.’

Mahoney, 30, and Amadeo, 27, met through a friend while they were both

freelancing, and joined DMB&B as a team three years ago. They previously

freelanced at BDDH, Chiat Day and Simons Palmer, where they worked on a

Nike ad.

Since then, they have worked on Child Road Safety and Department of

Employment campaigns, in addition to Littlewoods.
