Smart Energy GB, the national campaign to roll-out smart energy meters across the UK, pranked cinema-goers with an interactive 3D film experience earlier this month.
Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO created the experience, which began as a regular cinema ad introducing the brand’s mascots, Gaz and Leccy, before developing into a 3D experience when the characters are made to look as if they have burst through the screen, and then into a performance piece, with sparks going off around the cinema and actors chasing the loose sprites. The experience has been released as a film on YouTube. Smart Energy GB plans to install smart meters into every home and small business in Great Britain by 2020, ending estimated energy bills.
