Jo Smith, the former new-business manager of Saatchi and Saatchi,
has joined Cowan Kemsley Taylor as its new-business director.
Smith, who lost her job when K Advertising was folded into its sister
agency (Campaign, 21 February), will be the sixth partner at CKT.
Although she joins at a more senior level, Smith effectively replaces
Charlie Sampson, who quit the agency to become the client services
director at Lansdown Conquest earlier this year.
CKT had a good new-business year in 1996, although its billings,
according to the Campaign Top 300 report, were 26 per cent down in 1996
compared with 1995. Its ten new clients included Pontins, Greene King’s
Wexford Cream Ale, Gateway 2000, Linda McCartney’s frozen foods range,
Orchid Soft Drinks and Bellway Homes.
Paul Cowan, the agency’s managing partner, said: ’This is a coup for CKT
and marks a step forward for the agency. Jo is one of London’s best
known and most respected new-business directors.’
