Soap seeks new sponsor

Channel 4 is seeking a new sponsor for soap opera Hollyoaks, after Nestlé confirmed it will not be extending its year-long £9.5m Nescafé deal. The channel has begun the search for a replacement brand and called the Nescafé sponsorship a major success. A C4 spokesman said: "It [the Nestlé sponsorship] has achieved what Nescafé wanted, which is to introduce coffee to a younger audience." The channel will select a new backer for the programme shortly, hoping to retain the same level of spend for the sponsorship, the spokesman continued. The Chester-based soap has a core audience of 16 to 24-year-olds.
