Sony BMG consolidates 775 million European media into OMD

Sony BMG, the world's second-largest record company and home to artists such as Christina Aguilera, has consolidated its EUR75 million European media planning and buying account into OMD Europe.

The network, which had worked for Sony Music before its merger with BMG, fought off Carat, BMG's agency, and Mediaedge:cia to win the account.

OMD's Manning Gottlieb OMD agency won the UK Sony BMG business in May but the network has now picked up the account in 12 additional markets, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands.

Sony BMG was created last year after the merger of Sony and Bertlesmann.

It is the market leader in Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic.
