- Sony Electronics has ended its relationship with Lowe & Partners/SMS, New York and called a review of its multi million dollar consumer electronics business.
The review brings to an end months of uncertainly for Lowe, during which time Sony is understood to have already approached a number of global networks about the consumer electronics task.
Sony has said it expects to have a new agency in place by the fall.
In the Spring Sony launched a global brand campaign created by Young & Rubicam, New York, and Dentsu, Japan. Y&R is expected to be a strong contender for the business as it already works with Sony in Europe.
The move comes hard on the heels of key management changes at Sony, that have badly affected Lowe. The changes saw the departure of Carl Yankowski, Sony Electronics president, who was close to the agency.
In addition, early this spring Sony recruited a long-serving former Leo Burnett agency man Scott Edwards to the post of VP-advertising and marketing.
