Soup signals intent with creative hiring

Soup has appointed Steven Bennett-Day to the new role of head of creative.

Bennett-Day joins the digital agency from Green Cathedral, which works on digital marketing for brands including Playtex, Wonderbra and the Eden Project. At Green Cathedral, Bennett-Day was the creative director of the design and build division.

In 2006, Soup lost its place on the Aviva roster following a pitch won by Good Technology and glue London. The agency has been successful at winning smaller pitches, including work for Ministry of Sound, but is seeking heavyweight clients.

"The emphasis Soup will be placing on creativity moving into 2007 made it an obvious move for me. I'm certain that Soup will have a measurable impact on the industry this year, and I'm looking forward to being a part of that," Bennett-Day said.

"My personal goal would be to convert some of the pitches we're doing to wins. I'd like to bring on perhaps at least two more strategic clients."

At Green Cathedral, Bennett-Day worked on award-winning campaigns for clients including Open University, with the game "Kitchen Konundrum", which won an award for the best online game at last year's Bimas.

Green Cathedral was also shortlisted for a campaign for the Eden Project.
