There are not many marketers that can cite Hollywood A-lister Kevin Bacon taking on British chef Jamie Oliver in an epic bacon-sandwichmaking competition as a career highlight, but McHugh can. He also oversaw a groundbreaking six-year partnership with Wembley Stadium, which aims to make the stadium the most connected in the world. The EE brand history is the stuff of marketing textbooks: having been created only in 2010, it continues to hit the right chord with consumers because of its constant innovation, from the ‘Power Bar’ at Glastonbury Festival to its nationwide ‘Techy Tea Parties’, launched to tackle digital exclusion by teaching online skills.
