Starwood Hotels names DDB to $65m business

DDB, New York, won the business after shooting against Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, and four other New York based agencies: Young & Rubicam; Bates Worldwide, part of the Cordiant Communications Group; Partners & Shevack/Wolf and Weiss Stagliano Partners.

The White Plains, New York, based company said DDB will handle creative for the Sheraton and Starwood Preferred Guests units while DDB's Optimum Media operation, New York, will handle media buying.

The business had been handled by Ogilvy & Mather, New York, which refused to repitch for the account.
