The pace of campaigns unleashed by the brand under van Rooyen’s leadership over the past year has been relentless, even for BSkyB. There have been the Toy Story and Al Pacino creatives promoting fibre-optic broadband, a campaign for box sets and Sky+ featuring actor Idris Elba and a push led by footballer David Beckham to high­light the ‘Sky difference’. Van Rooyen’s commitment to the brand was again recognised in August, when he was handed the additional responsibility for digital.
