Stubley vacates job at Outrider to begin start-up operation

David Stubley, the managing director of the Tempus-owned digital

agency Outrider, has left to launch his own venture.

Stubley, who established Outrider in the UK in 1998 and was previously a

director at Channel 4, is launching a business outside the new-media

arena. He is in the process of securing funding and is expected to

launch the company in the next few weeks.

As well as running Outrider, Stubley was also the chief executive of the

Tempus sponsorship agency Total Sponsorship. His departure coincides

with ongoing uncertainty over the ownership of Tempus and the future of

Outrider if a deal goes ahead.

Outrider, which is led globally by the chief executive, Rob Norman, has

struggled in the US because of the recent downturn and many of Tempus'

recent job cuts were made across Outrider's US operations. However, in

the UK the agency has been less exposed to economic conditions and has

built up a strong client list that includes Direct Line, Shell and

Stubley said: "I have been at Outrider for four years and it is time for

a new challenge. Outrider and Total Sponsorship are both strong brands

with good clients and people, but it's time for me to do what I enjoy

most - creating new businesses."

It is not known what plans WPP has for Outrider if the Tempus takeover

goes ahead.
