Subway sends in the subs ahead of the postponed Euro 2020 tournament.
The ad begins as a group of friends get together at home to watch the football. One hungry punter arrives with a disappointing looking pizza, prompting his mate to use a hand signal typically used on the pitch to substitute players. The shunned pizza fan moves towards the window, where he is replaced by another friend who arrives with a bag of Subway sandwiches. It ends as the homeowner’s partner opts to sub him out for his mate. Ouch.
The TV ad launched yesterday (2 June) in Europe, the Middle East and India alongside digital and outdoor activity. It was directed by Jack Clough through Hunky Dory, and will appear in every match on ITV and RTE for the championship’s duration until 11 July.
In April, Subway worked with vegan grime artists to create a song that uses sounds emitted by plants to celebrate Earth Day.
