- The BT-owned Talking Pages has appointed Partners BDDH to its £3 million advertising account following a competitive pitch.
BDDH won the business following a final two way shoot out against another London agency, Court Burkitt & Company. The BT-owned directory service initially drew up a shortlist of five agencies with the help of the Advertising Agency Register.
Incumbent agency Leagas Delaney declined to repitch for the business following a break down in relations with the client in February.
The appointment of a new agency comes at a crucial time for Talking Pages, which has been faced with a relaunch by its rival, Freepages. This has relaunched as Scoot with a £10 million adspend and a new corporate identity created by the design company, Wolff Olins. Talking Pages is expected to boost its adspend dramatically as a result of the increased competition.
Leagas Delaney's best remembered ad for Talking Pages is 'stag night' from 1995. The film featured a distressed and severely hung-over groom the morning after his stag night. He is shown stranded in a Glasgow BR station miles from home on the day of his wedding, wearing only a pair of boxer shorts, braces and handcuffs. He is helped out of his predicament and down the aisle by a call to Talking Pages.
