TBWA GGT Simons Palmer has hired Tonya Barber, previously the

account director on Levi’s UK at Bartle Bogle Hegarty, to be a senior

account director at the newly merged agency.

Barber, 29, joins on 15 June and will head TBWA’s BBC TV Licensing,

Flextech and Pretty Polly accounts.

Barber also ran the Dockers Europe business at BBH. She joined BBH in

1994 from the small Covent Garden shop, Snowball & Found, after arriving

in the UK from her native Oklahoma.

She said: ’I have been at BBH for a long time. It’s a fantastic agency

and has provided me with great training, but TBWA is a dynamic place and

I love change. For someone from Oklahoma to be working on the BBC is

really quite an achievement.’

Grant Duncan, the chief operating officer of TBWA, commented: ’Tonya

comes to us with an immaculate pedigree and reflects the kind of quality

people this agency is capable of attracting.’

Separately, TBWA has recruited Sandra Visser to the new role of training

and development manager. Visser joins from Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO,

where she was a board account director with shared responsibility for

training and development in account management.
