Phil Teeman, a board director at the Network, has become the second
senior management figure to leave the Ogilvy & Mather media dependant as
it prepares to merge with J. Walter Thompson’s media department to form
MindShare next year.
After a nine-year stint at O&M and the Network, Teeman is taking up the
new role of vice-president of sales for the satellite TV channel,
Discovery Network Europe. His resignation follows news that Alan James,
broadcast director of the Network, has de-cided not to join MindShare
(Campaign, 21 November).
Teeman denied that his decision to leave was based on being excluded
from the MindShare senior line-up, of which only the choice of head of
broadcast has yet to be announced.
Teeman commented: ’This job came along and it is something I couldn’t
say no to, because it was such an interesting opportunity, despite my
loyalty to the company where I have worked for nine years.’
Teeman’s role will be to co-ordinate the channel’s relationship with the
UK advertising sales house, Flextech, as well as managing links with
sales houses and clients in Europe.
Nick Comer-Calder, general manager of Discovery Network Europe, said:
’Phil will give us an in-house expertise which will strengthen our
relationship with Flextech.
’Our sales operation has moved from being UK only to international so we
needed a sales director to manage these relationships.’
