St Luke’s unveils a new wave of Teletext TV commercials this week

as the data service publicises its local news pages, listings and

information on the general election.

Each ad opens with a plain black screen on to which some words are

printed, as though by old-style telex printers. The first line is a

question relating to an area of the UK.

Gary Bean, the head of marketing at Teletext, explained that the new ads

tap into the resentment people around the country feel about the way

London dominates in the provision of information.

Other spots will follow over the coming weeks, including one promoting

Teletext’s general election page which will show election news, results

and analysis.

The ads were written by Seyoan Vela and art directed by Colin

Lamberton.

Media planning and buying is through Manning Gottlieb Media.
