Terminator - The difference between paraffin and petrol? There's no F in petrol

Terminator was shocked at the lengths people will go to make a quick buck on some diesel - and we don't mean the over-hyped range of clothing.

With most UK drivers still suffering from petrol shortages, one entrepreneurial group of people has decided to exploit the situation - by auctioning buckets of petrol on QXL.

Run a search for petrol on the QXL site and you'll be presented with an ad that reads: 'For sale: one gallon of unleaded petrol complete with its own stylish container (green plastic with black screw cap). This rare commodity has dramatically increased in value recently... Invest now in supplies of one of the world's last remaining fossil fuels. Buyer must collect as there are protesters at the end of my street and I refuse to pass for safety reasons.'

While the crisis has caused chaos for some businesses, the big-hearted individuals at e-business firm Intronets (www.intronets.com) tried to help their customers get back on the road. They apparently held an online competition where five lucky winners won two gallons of petrol each - all generously siphoned from two of the company's cars
