Three shops to pitch for Telewest’s media

The UK’s largest cable operator, Telewest, has put its pounds 6 million media account up for review and is expected to make a decision on the winning agency shortly.

The UK’s largest cable operator, Telewest, has put its pounds 6

million media account up for review and is expected to make a decision

on the winning agency shortly.

Three agencies were invited to pitch for the account, including the

incumbent, Media Insight, alongside.

Total Media and MediaVest. Media Insight, MindShare’s second-string

agency, has held the Telewest account for four years.

Telewest reorganised its marketing department last year, appointing

Linda Whittington as its interim marketing director.

Telewest’s above-the-line creative account is handled by TBWA GGT Simons

Palmer and has mainly concentrated on press and radio work. There is no

suggestion that the creative account is affected by the media

review.

Telewest recently completed a pounds 649 million merger with General

Cable, which increased its access to 5.8 million homes, a third of all

homes with cable.

No-one at either Telewest or Media Insight was available for comment on

the media review as Campaign went to press.
