Tomboy Films adds Shane Meadows to its directorial roster

Shane Meadows, the director of the British films Twentyfourseven, A Room for Romeo Brass and Once Upon a Time in the Midlands, has been signed by the Notting Hill-based production company Tomboy Films.

Meadows' recent commercials credits include spots for NatWest for M&C Saatchi, the McDonald's "baby" commercial for Leo Burnett and work for Barclaycard and BBC Music Live.

Meadows, who had made 33 films by the age of 25, was previously represented by Jane Fuller & Associates. He has recently returned to his independent film-making roots with his latest film, Dead Man's Shoes, which previewed at the Edinburgh Festival.

"Shane excels in casting and perfomance, and is great with comedy," Frances Silor, the managing director of Tomboy Films, said. "He is looking forward to returning to commercials, as he likes the challenge and discipline of telling a story in seconds."

Meadows joins a roster of directors that includes Stephen Frears, Mark Mylod and the comedy duo Adam and Joe.
