Top Model competition brings record traffic to GMTV

LONDON - ITV1's breakfast programme GMTV has reported a record public response from its latest 'Top Model' competition as more than 18,500 viewers uploaded photos of themselves to the show's website.

Thousands of viewers uploaded photos of themselves and their friends for a chance to be named a 'top model' during the four weeks the competition ran.

Digital agency Yomego said that some images were clicked more than 2,000 times, making it one of GMTV's most successful integrated TV and online ventures.

Steve Richards, managing director at Yomego, said: "As soon as the presenters make an appeal for information to be uploaded we see a marked and significant rise in the number of items we receive.

"GMTV wants to be interactive with its audience -- this competition is a prime example of what is achievable when the traditional and new media are brought together."

The winner of the competition was 16-year old Ashby Jones from Hastings.

Jones won an introduction to modelling agency Independent, a shoot with Now magazine and will feature in an advertising campaign for Toni and Guy.
