betting company FirstStake.com.

Heather Wallington, FirstStake’s sales and marketing manager, saw

pitches from Expert Media and The Media-networks International before

awarding the contract to Total Media.

The Kensington-based agency has already begun a planning and buying push

to drum up interest in FirstStake, which went live during Euro 2000.

Nick Hammond, Total Media’s media director, has booked advertisements in

the national press to run over the next few weeks.

Hammond, who is building a new team, will follow the national press push

by placing ads in sports titles and men’s lifestyle magazines.

He will also line up media deals around major sporting events. The

overall aim is to target sports fans rather than experienced

gamblers.

The online service is owned by an independent bookmaker that is also

called First Stake. It has operated betting shops in the Midlands,

South-east and West Country for more than 14 years.

Total Media already works for Amazon, online games outfit Won.net and

Ci4net.

Guy Sellers, joint managing director of Total Media, said: ’We seem to

have proved our ability to plan and buy effectively across all media and

to think creatively for clients that are looking to launch.’
