careers advice service.

Reed Business Information’s site started its Career Health Check offer

this week (3 April).

The service is designed for those who want to rethink the direction of

their career and will advise users on how to sell themselves more

effectively to recruiters.

Visitors to the site can fill in an online questionnaire which asks

about working style, preferred working environment and goals. Users can

also have their managerial and cognitive competencies assessed.

The questionnaire takes around 20 minutes to complete. The results are

then analysed by the test publishers and occupational psychologists

Selby MillSmith, who will dispatch a career guidance, competency and

work profile report suggesting possible careers within 72 hours.

RBI is ploughing over pounds 1 million into the project.

Ray Duggins, publisher of TotalJobs, said: ’Our free Career Health Check

will not only help job seekers decide whether they are in the right

career or which career path to follow, it will be an invaluable tool for

compiling CVs and preparing for interviews. Never again will a candidate

be stumped by that ’What do you see as your greatest weakness?’

interview question, and CV writing will never be the same.’

He added: ’As employers turn to non-interview selection methods, these

types of tests will become a bigger part of the job-seeking

process.’ currently posts 22,175 jobs in a range of sectors,

including sales.
