Tourism tie-up at debut fair

Exposure Communications director Simon Burton has teamed up with the capital's tourism body Visit London to launch a second exhibition as part of his ongoing bid to create an annual industry Exhibition Week.

London Venue Expo will enable venues located inside the M25 to showcase their offers to organisers and corporate clients looking for an event venue in the capital.

It will be co-located alongside next year's renamed The Exhibiting Show, which is due to take place at Excel from 29-30 June 2005. The Docklands venue hopes to host the Association of Exhibition Organisers Excellence Awards for a third year on 1 July 2005.

"Our ambition is to gather the whole face-to-face event industry for one week, in one place annually in order to create a London Business Week," said Burton. "This is the capital's chance to box its weight on the world stage and a chance for the industry and corporate buyers to do business and cement relationships."

Visit London commercial director David Hornby said: "London has an incredible wealth, diversity and range of venues. We are excited to be partnering the show to promote the capital's venues and showcase London itself."

The Exhibiting Show changed its name from The Exhibitor Show last month to distance itself from the US exhibition of the same name. Organisers including Fresh RM and London EventCo have signed up to run workshops at this year's event, which takes place at Excel from 30 June-1 July.
