Mcgarrybowen's chairman Jim Kelly is to step down from the agency in March to concentrate on his personal life after joining in 2009 from Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R, the agency he co-founded.  It is unlikely Kelly will be replaced and the agency will be overseen by managing director Ida Rezvani. CMW is bolstering its management team by appointing Adrian Nicholls and Rod Jones to oversee key clients. Nicholls joins from Blue Barracuda where he was managing director, while Jones has been promoted to business leads following two years at the agency as group account director. (Campaign)

Cheil Worlwide has promoted Daiki Lim to the role of president and chief executive officer from his previous post as vice-president of the corporate strategy office, Samsung Group. Lim is replacing the retiring Nack-Hoi Kim. (Campaign)


Audi UK head of marketing Dominic Chambers has left the company without a job to go to. In the interim, Audi’s UK director Martin Sander, a former marketer for Audi North America, will oversee marketing, with support from national CRM and centre marketing manager Sarah Cox. (Marketing)

Chris Townsend, the former commercial director at the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Locog), has been hired to help set up a new Paramount Pictures theme park in Kent. (Marketing)


James Harding has resigned as editor of The Times after five years, after publishers News Corporation made it clear it wanted to appoint a new editor. Sunday Times editor John Witherow is being tipped for the role as speculation mounts that The Times and Sunday Times will move to a seven-day operation. (Media Week)

Trinity Mirror has poached Neil Jagger from Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers, for the newly-created group newspaper sales and marketing director role. In his new role he will report to Trinity Mirror chief operating officer Mark Hollinshead. (Media Week)

Guardian News and Media (GNM), publisher of The Guardian and The Observer, has appointed former ITV marketer Julia Porter to the role of director of consumer revenues. Porter has been working in the role on an interim basis after joining from brand asset management company Adgistics, where she was interim chief marketing officer. (Media Week)

Bauer Media has handed Claire Irvin its first editor-in chief role across its parenting portfolio of titles. Irving previously worked at rival magazine publisher Hearst UK, where she was editor of She before its closure last year. (Media Week)

Walker Media has rehired Malcolm Boxall, client services director at Harvest Digital, to replace Clive Record as head of screen. Boxall will be responsible for buying space across TV and digital display. (Media Week)


Apple has poached Vimeo's European head of PR, Nikki Thompson, for a senior PR role within its UK comms operation. It is understood Thompson will lead comms for Apple's hardware devices, including the iPad, iPhone and iPod, across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa. (PR Week)

Unilever has appointed Charlotte Carroll as its new comms director for the UK and Ireland as part of plans to promote its green credentials. Carroll has been working at Unilever on a freelance basis as change communications director, overseeing a restructuring programme that will see the closure of four plants and the loss of 500 jobs by the end of 2013.
