AKQA has hired Ian Wharton as a creative director, reporting to the agency's co-founder and chief creative officer, James Hilton. (Campaign)

Rapp has boosted its creative team in London by rehiring Rich Donovan and Jon Leney from Partners Andrews Aldridge, and bringing in creatives from Elvis and JWT. Copywriter Mat Prime and art director Matt Daymond join from Elvis, and Dennie de Wever and Sophia Rabl join from JWT. (Campaign)

Marc Mendoza is stepping down from his role as chairman of Havas Media at the end of the month, having decided the ambassadorial figurehead role at the agency is not suited for him. His departure ends a 27-year relationship with Havas companies. (Campaign)

HMV has hired Warner Home Entertainment marketer Patrizia Leighton as its marketing director to replace Mark Hodgkinson, who was made redundant by administrators Deloitte. (Marketing)

Justin Cooke has left his job as the chief marketing officer for Topshop to set up his own agency called Innovate7. (Marketing)

Hugo Barra, the vice-president of Android product management at Google, is leaving the company to join rapidly expanding Chinese mobile firm Xiaomi. (Marketing)

Graham Appleby, the director of commercial partnerships at Sky Media, has left the media company this summer under the radar after 16 years. (Media Week)

Andrew Harrison, the chief executive of RadioCentre, is to leave the commercial radio trade body. (Media Week)

PR

Claire Grindal has joined Red Door Communications as an associate director after four years at Munro & Forster. (PR Week)

RLM Finsbury partner Andrew Dowler is leaving the agency to take a senior in-house role at global private equity giant Blackstone. (PR Week)

Hume Brophy has hired former M:Communications head of life sciences Mary Clark to launch a healthcare PR and investor relations practice. (PR Week)
